About Master of Science in Biostatistics

This program focuses on the theory of biostatistics, data analytic methods, experimental design (including the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials), statistical methods in human genetics, biomedical informatics and advanced statistical computing methods. Statistical methods are taught both from a practical and theoretical perspective.

Master of Science in Biostatistics Admissions Information

To be eligible for admission to the programs in Biostatistics, prospective students should have Undergraduate degrees in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related fields. Undergraduate preparation should have included differential and integral calculus, introduction to mathematical statistics and basic computer programming. Applicants to the programs in Epidemiology may have a clinical background in psychology, public health, allied health or biological sciences. Undergraduate preparation should have included applied statistics, college algebra, an introductory course in calculus, and basic computer programming. Applicants should meet the minimum requirements for admission to the Graduate School. A limited number of students whose backgrounds and experience demonstrate potential for success, but who have not met the minimum requirements may be admitted conditionally. Students applying for the Ph.D. must score above the 65th percentile on both the verbal and quantitative portions of the GRE.
